Warranties · Toronto & the GTA
Roofing warranties, explained plainly.
A roof comes with two different promises from two different companies. Most quotes blur them into one impressive-sounding number. Here is exactly what each one covers, how long ours really lasts, and what happens when you make a claim.
Two warranties, kept separate on purpose
When a roofer quotes you a single big warranty number, they are usually stacking these two together. We list them apart so you can see who is responsible for what.
Workmanship warranty
Our promise that the roof was installed correctly — how the flashing, fasteners, underlayment, and ventilation go together.
- Comes from Roofprint, not the shingle maker.
- Covers installation defects, not material aging.
- Lasts only as long as we operate — so we tell you the term in years, never "lifetime."
Manufacturer material warranty
The shingle maker's promise about the material itself — for example GAF or IKO covering a manufacturing defect in the shingle.
- Comes from the manufacturer, honoured through us.
- Often prorates and reduces in value over the years.
- System-level coverage usually requires the full qualifying accessory package to be installed.
Our honesty rule
We won't print "lifetime" on a promise we can't keep that long.
A workmanship warranty is only as good as the company standing behind it. Roofprint is a new GTA company, so we state the real number of years and back it with a named foreman on every job — not a lifetime claim that outlives most roofing businesses.
We install every system to manufacturer specification, including the accessories a system warranty requires. Until we hold an elite installer certification, we say exactly that — never a status we haven't earned.
Our workmanship terms, by system
The longer-life systems carry a longer workmanship term. Your exact written terms are in your contract before you sign — nothing here is a surprise later.
Essential
10 years workmanship
A solid, code-compliant architectural roof.
Enhanced
10 years workmanship
Our most-chosen system. Pairs with the manufacturer system warranty.
Premium
12 years workmanship
Designer / Class-4 impact build for the longest service life.
Manufacturer material and system warranties are provided by the shingle maker and vary by product. We register the qualifying package and keep the proof in your file.
How a claim actually works
The hard part of most roofing claims is proving what was installed. We already have that proof. Your permanent project file and the photo evidence we took at every stage do the heavy lifting.
Open a case from your project file
Every Roofprint customer has a permanent project file. Open a warranty request there or call your named foreman directly. You get a case number the same day.
We compare against the original evidence
Your file already holds the photos we took at every stage — the bare deck, the ice-and-water shield, the underlayment, the flashing, the finished roof. We compare the issue against what was installed, so there’s no guessing about who covers what.
We decide which warranty applies
If the cause is how we installed it, that’s our workmanship warranty and we fix it. If a material itself failed, we handle the manufacturer claim on your behalf and document it the same way.
We repair and add it to the file
The repair, the cause, and new photos go into your project file. Your record stays complete for the next owner or your next decision.
Common warranty questions
What is the difference between a workmanship warranty and a manufacturer warranty?
A workmanship warranty is our promise that the roof was installed correctly — flashing, fasteners, ventilation, and the way the system goes together. A manufacturer warranty is the shingle maker’s promise about the material itself. They cover different things and come from different companies, so we list both separately instead of blending them into one big number.
How long is the Roofprint workmanship warranty?
It depends on the system: 10 years on Essential, 10 years on Enhanced, and 12 years on Premium. The exact written terms are in your contract before you sign.
Do you offer a lifetime warranty?
No, and we won’t print the word "lifetime" on a workmanship warranty. A workmanship warranty can only last as long as the company that wrote it is still operating. Some manufacturer material warranties use the word "lifetime," but they carry conditions and prorate over time. We tell you the real term in years instead.
Is your roof "installed to manufacturer specification"?
Yes. We install to each manufacturer’s published specification, including the accessories a system warranty requires. As a new company we don’t yet hold elite installer certifications, so we say "installed to manufacturer specification" rather than claim a status we haven’t earned.
Why do some big manufacturer warranties get voided?
Headline warranties like GAF WindProven only apply when the full required accessory package is installed — the matching starter, ridge cap, leak barrier, ventilation, and deck protection. Many "GAF roofs" skip an accessory and quietly fall short of the headline warranty. We install the qualifying package and keep the evidence so the coverage actually holds.
What does the workmanship warranty not cover?
It covers installation defects, not everything that can happen to a roof. Storm damage, ice damming from poor attic conditions you control, normal aging, and damage from other trades working on the roof are not workmanship issues. Your project file helps us tell these apart honestly.
